Celebration Place

Celebration Place will be San Diego’s world class waterfront destination. Along the great waterfront you will find a new entertainment harbor, an ecological baywalk, and the city’s new signature park. The Spinnaker will be San Diego’s new skyline icon, an image that reflects the maritime tradition defining the city’s connection to San Diego Bay.

Celebration Place

Celebration Harbor

Celebration Harbor is the transformation of Tuna Harbor into a mixed use maritime entertainment center where fishing vessels, commercial vessels, transit boats, mega yachts and water taxis will be viewed from entertainment venues.

Celebration Place

Baywalk

The Baywalk is composed of lightweight mesh on small piers that allow pedestrians to “walk on the water” and experience the bay and its ecology in a new and intimate way.

The Embarcadero

Celebration Place

Signature Park

The new signature park is a recreational and cultural extravaganza. The landscape will feature terraces and sculpted berms to provide dramatic views of the bay, with a large outdoor room for events and active recreation.

Celebration Place

Celebration Hotel

This hotel will be a new addition to San Diego’s inventory of hotels. This hotel is different because it will cater to the bayfront visitor not just the conventioneer. The hotel is modest in scope and scale, keeping with the larger idea that this is to be a great public place. The hotel is sited on the harbor at an important place where the tower can access the best views of the bay. The hotel is integrated closely with the overall retail plan and shares a common lobby with the Performing Arts Hall.

Celebration Place

Performing Arts Hall

The Performing Arts Hall is seen as one of the most special rooms in the city. The Hall is connected to the hotel and perched over the Embarcadero and the Harbor. Guests will arrive at a porte cochere and rise to a second level pre-function hall. After cocktails the patrons will rise again into the hall, a simple rectangular volume with a focused perspective on the stage set in front of a large window framing a view of the Harbor, the Bay and Point Loma. This will be a flexible space that can seat up to 2,000 and can be blacked out for different lighting atmospheres.

Celebration Place

Retail & Entertainment

Celebration Place will weave together the existing Police Headquarters and the Fish Market Restaurant with new shops and entertainment to create a continuous experience. The retail plan has three different opportunities. First (1) is around the harbor, where entertainment and food and beverage will prevail. The Fish Market is integrated into this part of the plan. The second (2) opportunity is the base of the hotel fronting on the Embarcadero and the harbor. The third (3) opportunity is retail on the park, where shops and restaurants will have open doors in the great California tradition. The Police Headquarters is integrated into this group by a series of linked courtyards to expand the park experience.

Celebration Place

Spinnaker

The Spinnaker is part art, part attraction, and part marquee for Celebration Place. The form celebrates the long time sailing culture of the bay. Not only is the Spinnaker in a wonderful addition to the city skyline, but it can also be ridden in state of the art capsules that rise 400 feet to show views of the bay. The Spinnaker ride explains the history of maritime commerce and navigation and its impact on the development of San Diego as a major America city.
